Geographical Pattaya Information:

In terms of geography, Pattaya is easily accessed by car/taxi from the Bangkok international airport 'Suvarnabhumi Airport'. It is located about 160km from Bangkok and, with the excellent connecting roads, takes less than two hours driving time to get to. Many Thai's choose Pattaya for a holiday too - the ease of access from Bangkok makes it a popular destination for a day-trip!

Thailand is made up of 76 provinces; Pattaya is located within the Chonburi province to the east of the country. It has a west-facing coastline looking over the Gulf of Thailand. Within 10km of the coast are a number of small islands that are popular with Pattaya visitors. Koh Larn (pronounced Ko Lan) is the most popular and has several beautiful powdery white-sand beaches, some of which are more secluded than others, making them ideal for exploration.

You can investigate Koh Larn by hiring a motorcycle for the day. Koh Larn is cheap to get to from Pattaya, around 60 baht or so by ferry, and takes about 40 minutes travel time. If you don't mind paying more, about 2,000 baht will get you there by speedboat much more quickly. I recommend Koh Larn, it is ideal for quiet daytime relaxation ahead of your big Pattaya night out!

If you are planning a trip to Pattaya, check out the hotel offers at Tripadvisor where you will almost certainly find the cheapest prices. Some of my favourite Pattaya hotels are:

The Hilton Hotel - very expensive
Dusit Thani - excellent location
Sabai Resort - cheap and very good
