Pattaya Weather Outlook
Pattaya, as with all of Thailand, has tropical weather. The city lies almost halfway between the equator and the tropic of cancer. The weather in Pattaya is always hot enough so that you can wear shorts
and t-shirt without getting cold - even at night. For most of the year,
day-time weather is hot but bearable.
Lying off the east coast of the gulf of Thailand, the sea breeze helps Pattaya to enjoy a cooler temperature than the inland areas of Thailand.
To see the current weather in Pattaya, and the forecast for the next few days, see the table below.
The high season, or holiday season, in Pattaya gets going in mid November and lasts through until mid March - this is exactly the same time that the colder northern hemisphere countries in the West are suffering their worst, coldest, months of the year. In Pattaya, the weather at this time is at its best which makes it the ideal winter holiday destination. If you already live in a warm country this might not impress you, but for those of us that come from a cold, wet country, this is the stuff of dreams!
What about the rainy months?
Even during the wettest months of September and October, Pattaya weather gives as many days with beautiful clear blue skies as it does with cloud and rain.
That said, when it does rain in Thailand, it can rain like there's no tomorrow! From July 2011 through to the current time of writing (December 2011), there has been severe flooding in the north and central areas of Thailand. Pattaya did not escape the floods entirely; during August, it too had one day with flash flood waters deep enough to swim down from the main road to the sea!
The picture below was taken in September, the second wettest month of the
year in Pattaya. As you can see, the weather was not too bad at all!
Pattaya Weather overall
Generally speaking, when it does rain it tends to be in short heavy downpours. This actually does a good job in cooling everything down. After 20 or 30 minutes the rain usually stops, the skies clear and everywhere is dry again after another hour or so. For the most part, the weather is just about as good as it gets anywhere in the world. Especially for a holiday, it is hard to beat. I wouldn't like to have an out-door job here though, especially one
involving strenuous manual labour - it's far too hot for that.
In-door work is still feasible, almost everywhere has air-conditioning, so indoor temperatures are perfectly comfortable. If you just intend to relax by the pool, or sit in a bar with an ice-cold beer in your hand, or on the beach with the occasional dip in the water, the weather in Pattaya is just about perfect for most months of the year.
