This picture of Soi Buakhao was taken at its intersection with Soi 11 off Second Road (i.e. Soi Honey, the home of some of Pattaya's most popular massage outlets).
The Noi Beer Bar that you can see on the right hand side of the picture is quite a popular place for some reason. My guess is that the popularity is due to the manageress who works there, she's a middle-aged lady that speaks good English and seems to have a genuine interest in her customers. I like the Noi beer bar, it's a good place to stop for a refreshment during the day.
The traffic that you can see is very typical of Soi Buakhao at all hours of the day. Pick-up taxi's run along the Soi at the going rate of 10 baht per person and there are motorbike taxis everywhere too. You'll see lots of local Thai people (rather than tourist focused Thai people) going about their daily activities here. The Soi is especially busy during the rush hour that seems to start from something like 4pm with the school, day ending and later on the usual working day comes to an end just like in the West.
As I've mentioned on the main page about this Soi, most of the prices are quite a lot lower than in other areas. There are some really cheap deals on hotels off the side streets of Soi Buakhao and, if you are considering a trip to Pattaya, you might want to consider coming for a month as you can save a lot on hotel costs. Prices can be as low as 6,000 baht per month plus electric bills (daily rates are low but not as low) for an air-conditioned en-suite room with balcony, satellite television, free wifi, and a balcony. Don't expect much refinement, you won't get a swimming pool at this price, but there will be a really cheap laundry service thrown in. The only problem is that you can't book in advance as these hotels are not online, you need to find one when you arrive (have drink at a bar and ask the girls working there for recommendations).
