You could be forgiven for thinking that Walking Street is just one non-stop venue for high octane madness but you would be wrong about that. There are all sorts of places for a quiet relaxing refreshment in a more peaceful setting. The Candyshop is one such place and it is located right in the middle of the action. Drinks here are a little more expensive since you are paying for a bit more exclusivity and a bit more space to spread out and relax. Actually, they are a lot more expensive, I seem to recall paying a hefty 125 baht for my bottle of Chang... that's more than double the price you pay in some venues and about the same price that you pay in a gogo bar!
You can find the Candyshop about 100 meters down Walking Street from the Beach Road entrance. Opposite it is Soi 15 which is home to some of the very best gogo bars that you will find in Thailand. Even closer than this is the Iron club, the Moon club, Cavern club, Shark agogo, Airline agogo and Tiger agogo all of which are located either directly opposite or right next door!
This photo was taken in the early evening at around 8pm; there were lots of people out and around but most of the tourists are just looking at this time of night; the bars get busier later on but even then some of the bars, like this one, offer a less busy less hectic atmosphere (not entirely unexpected considering the higher prices!). For cheaper prices, I recommend the Diamond arcade which is also directly opposite the Candyshop, you won't find Soi Buakhao type prices (this is Walking Street after all), but the prices there are a bit cheaper.
